RESEARCH GROUPS (ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING)

ADVANCED COMPUTING IN FUTURE TECHNOLOGY (ACFT)

Team Lead: Prof. Dr. Jameel Ahmed

Members: Dr. Shaheryar Najam, Dr. Arslan Shafique, Dr. Asif Siddiq, Shahzad Iqbal, Muhammad Shahbaz Khan, Menaa Nawaz, Fadia Ali

Khan, Muhammad Owais Tariq

Working: This research group is aimed at bringing in future technologies. Current research involves power efficient high performance computing, Big data analytics, traffic engineering in data Center networks, millimeter wave 5G reconfigurable MIMO antenna array design, amplification of MEMS based micro-gripper and advanced encryption/decryption schemes for data security.

RADIO FREQUENCY RESEARCH GROUP (RFRG)

Team Lead: Dr. Sohail Khalid

Members: Muhammd Faisal, Bilal Mushtaq, Abdul Rehman, Muhammad Idrees, Dr. Mujeeb ur Rehman.

Working: RF research group in the Electrical Engineering department is working on the synthesis and design of various microwave devices. Our recent research project work is on the synthesis and design of reconfigurable multiband bandpass RF filters and substrate integrated waveguides. Moreover, we are also working on designing a novel multilayer microstrip patch antenna for producing a dual-band dual-mode frequency response.

COMPUTER AND INFORMATION SCIENCE (CIS)

Team Lead: Dr. Shaheryar Najam

Members: Tahseen Ahsan, Kiran Ashraf, Abrar, Ishfaq Ahmed, Talha Asghar, Mehwish, Gulraiz Khan, Azam Khan, Iftikhar Ahmad,

Working: Computer and Information Science (CIS) is a research group that aims at advanced technologies to automate the processes such as automatic security systems and non-invasive disease diagnosis using artificial intelligence. Moreover, CIS’s research scope also includes green computing, power-efficient computing architectures, and high-performance computing. Currently, ongoing projects aims

at early diagnosis of chronic disease linked with vital body organs such as liver, lung, and kidney using Machine Learning/Deep Learning, Non-invasive estimation of Blood glucose level and Blood Pressure using PPG signals, design and development of digital stethoscope, and securing sensitive information such as medical and military-related images that requires the highest level of confidentiality particularly during transmission and storage.

SELF-MIXING LASER INTERFEROMETRY SENSING SYSTEMS (SMI-SS)

Team Lead: Dr. Zohaib Ahmad Khan Members: Saqib Amin, Muhammad Sadiq

Working: The aim of our research group is to design signal processing algorithms for self-mixing laser Interferometry based sensing applications. The signal processing algorithms required for accurate sensing includes pre-processing of SMI signal, retrieval of information and estimation of various optical feedback parameters. We are also working to develop an adapive SMI sensor which is capable of working under industrial or in embedded applications. Our research group also aims to use SMI for biomedical sensing applications.
