Scholarships and Financial Assistance

Scholarships and Financial Assistance are awarded to the students under following schemes:

Financial Assistance for fall 2017 and spring 2018 Admissions

 

 

  1. Salam Scholarship:(First Semester Only)

 

Eligibility:

i. Students admitted on open merit seat in any program of RiphahInternational University, Lahore Campus.Students of affiliated institutions will not be eligible for any scholarship/ assistanceship.

ii. This Scholarship is awarded as per given criteria;

2. Merit Scholarship:

 

  1. Musbqat:

 

Eligibility:

i. Bonafide students of Riphah International University, Lahore campus shall be eligible for thisMerit scholarship (Mumtaz and Musbqat).

ii. Students who have secured minimum SGPA of 3.71in university exam of Riphah International University

iii. Merit Scholarship is only available for post graduate programs and for DPT & Pharm-D

Amount of Scholarship:

i. There are 3 scholarships under this scheme

ii. Top three studentsof a class of respective program will be awarded Scholarship as per following criterion:

  1. Mumtaz:

 

Eligibility:

  1. Bonafide students of Riphah International University, Lahore campus shall be eligible for this scholarship.
  2. Top 20% enrolled studentsof a class of respective program who have passed the final exam of respective semester.
  3. Students must have secured minimum SGPA of 3.50 and abovein university exam of Riphah International University.

 

Number & Amount of Scholarship:

i. The number of scholarships under this scheme is depend upon the number of students enrolled in the class. There are scholarships available under this scheme equal to 20% of the enrollment in the class excluding the demotes.

ii. Student eligible for scholarship under this scheme will be awarded Rs. 8,000/-

iii. Top three position holders will also be awarded this scholarship in addition to the amount provided to them under Scheme-3(i.eMusabiqat Scheme).

 

3. Talent Scholarship for Under graduate programs:

 

i. Bonafide students of Riphah International University, Lahore Campusshall be eligible for Talent scholarship.

ii. SGPA 3.2 is the minimum criteria to achieve this scholarship except for BSEE which is SGPA 2.2.

iii. There is no need to formally apply for this scholarship. It is awarded from 2nd Semester onward and subject to last semester final SGPA.

4. UsraAssistanceship (Kinship) for Siblings of RIU / IIMC-T Students:

 

Eligibility:

i. Students studying in any institution of Riphah International University, Lahore campus shall be eligible for this assistanceship.

ii. Students will be awarded assistanceship only if his/her real brother or sister is studying in any program of the RIU/IIMC-T.

iii. Assistanceship is only available if both siblings are studying at same time.

 

Amount of Assistanceship:

Under this scheme assistanceship will be awarded on tuition fee as per following criterion:

5. MawakhatAssistanceship (Need Base Scholarship):

 

Eligibility:

i. Student studying in any Institution of Riphah International University, Lahore Campus.

ii. Under this scheme assistanceship will be awarded to the students who have successfully passed at least one University exam of Riphah International University

iii. Student has to prove his/her financial hardship in front of concerned authorities as per university requirements.

iv). Student has to achieve a minimum of 3.2SGPA for filling the assistanceship.

 

Amount of Assistanceship:

Under this scheme student will be entitled for 50% assistanceship on tuition fee in case of MawakhatAssistanceship.

 

Extent & number of all above financial assistanceship will be the discretion of Financial Assistance Committee.

 

Tenure:

i. Assistanceship will be awarded for one academic term/semester at a time. The candidate shall have to apply again in the next academic term/semester to get the assistanceship again.

 

ii. For assistanceship in 2nd semester onward student has to achieve SGPA of 3.20in final exam of each semester else penalty on assistanceship willbe imposed as given at the end of this policy.

 

Process:

i. Student has to apply for assistanceship on prescribed application form byannounced date of the department.

 

ii. The F&D department shall check the eligibility and documentation requirements (as listed below)for completion and submit in the FA committee of University.

 

iii. University FA committee shall decide on all the applications within maximum first two months of start of academic term/semester.

 

iv. The student awarded MawakhatAssistanceship has to complete 1 hours of social work per Rs.160 of assistanceship. The social work jobs will be at any institution of Riphah International University or its sponsor IIMC Trust. The type and schedule of job will be organized by Provost Student affairs.

 

Required Document (need to submit with application form):

 

  1. Application (in prescribed form)
  2. Attested Copies of CNIC of Father/Guardian
  3. Father/Guardian Salary Slips/bank statement that shows monthly income/pension record
  4. Details of educational expenses of siblings (paid copies to be submitted) (Latest).
  5. Monthly expenditure detail duly verified/attested gazetted officer.
  6. Latest utility bills (in original) and other information that would support monthly expenditure summary (mentioned in point 5).
  7. Property documents or Rent deed against which utility bills are shared.  

 

 

6. WaliAssistanceship in case of Sponsor DeathDuring Studies:

 

Eligibility:

i. Student studying in any institution of Riphah International University, Lahore Campus.

ii. Parents (i.e. Sponsor) of the student deceased after his/her admission in RIU.

 

Amount of Assistanceship:

Under this scheme student will be entitled for 50% assistance ship on tuition fee in case of WaliAssistanceship.

Extent & number of all above financial assistanceship will be the discretion of Financial Assistance Committee.

Q1: What is the right time to apply for Scholarship(Need Base/Wal /Usra)?

Ans: The Right time to apply for application is at the start of each semester i.e.; Spring& Fall. Applications are welcomed till 2nd week of commencement of classes.

Q2: I have applied for Financial Assistance and attached all required document but why my application is rejected?

Ans:There are three kind of rejection criteria’s:

  • If SGPA is less than 3.2
  • Incomplete form filled
  • Misrepresentation
  • Manipulated supporting documents

 

 Financial Assistance committee has full right to accept or reject any application, if anything found in appropriate.

Q3: I have achieve more than 3.2 SGPA / 3.51 SGPA, Why I haven,t received talent/merit Scholarship?

Ans: All Scholarship are subject to taking full course load during the semester.

Q4: Can I apply for Financial Assistance in 1st Semester?

Ans: No, Financial Assistance is only available from 2nd semester onwards.

Q5: I have submitted my Wali application form in last semester and it approved, do I need to apply again?

Ans: Yes, for mawakhat and wali scholarships you have to apply every time in order to avail scholarship with fresh supporting documents.

Q6:I don’t want to continue with university, what will I get as refund?

Ans: Riphah International University has opted refund policy of HEC which is as follow;

  1. Percentage of Fee Shall be applicable on all component of fee except Admission Fee and Security Fee.
  2. Timelines shall be calculated continuously, covering both weekends and weekdays.

 

Q7: How long it will take, after applying refund?

Ans: It will take approximately 45 working days after the submission of application. You will also receive cheque collection call from one of the finance representatives.

 

Q8: Why I am paying tax on my fee?

Ans: Under Sec. 236 (i), Educational institution are obliged to deduct WHT @ 5% on total fee if exceeding PKR 200,000 per annum. All component of fee will be considered except college security. It shall be adjustable by the end of year, if your fee did not exceed PKR 200,000.

 

Q9: I have submitted my fee in Bank but my ledger is still showing outstanding balance?

Ans: You have to submit bank deposited copy of F&D and Finance to Fee and Due department, in order to update your ledger.

Q10: I and my classmate has score same position in final exam with same SGPA, he/she is getting scholarship reward but nothing has been awarded to me?

Ans: Merit Scholarship is only awarded to first three students. If two or more student has achieved same SGPA, than position for award will be evaluated as per marks attain and can further refine to attendance and course load offered in semester.

Q 11: What is Salam Scholarship?

Ans: Salam Scholarship is a onetime scholarship, offered at the time of admission and percentage of scholarship depend on last degree score.

Q 12: What is Mawakhat Scholarship?

Ans:Mawakhat Scholarship can be apply from 2nd Semester onward. It is offered to only those students who are needy and achieve 3.2 SGPA, as students are assisted from zakat fund.

Q13: My Sponsor died during my studies, which scholarship I can apply?

Ans:Wali Scholarship is available for those students whose sponsor died during studies. To attain this, student has to apply with supporting documents.

Q14: I cannot pay my fee in full, can I make installments and if yes how many installments and what time?

Ans: Yes, up to two installments and installments can be applied at the commencement of classes.

Q15: I have just paid for prospectus fee and I realized that I do not want to buy this, can I get refund?

Ans: No, Prospectus fee is non-refundable.

Q 16: I cannot continue my studies for particular time and I have outstanding balance, can I freeze my semester?

Ans:

  1. Semester freeze option is only available if applied within fifteen days from the commencement of classes, otherwise student is liable to continue and has to pay full fee.
  2. First semester cannot be freeze.

 

Q 17: I have left university during studies, do I need to pay anything other tuition fee on rejoining?

Ans: Yes, you have to clear your all previous dues and a new CMS is generated against your name for which you have to pay Admission fee.

Q 18: I am student of Riphah International University, Islamabad campus. Can I transfer to Lahore campus?

Ans: Yes, for this you have to take NOC from your campus for transfer.
