Riphah International University, Islamabad in collaboration with American Society for Safety Engineers (ASSE) conducted a walk on World day for safety and Health at work on April 28, 2017. The walk was conducted at Islamabad Press Club in which large number of students from FEAS faculty participated. Mehmood Khan Secretary, Pakistan chapter (ASSE) welcomed the students of Riphah International University and gave a briefing about the mission and vision of their organization.
The purpose of walk was to promote Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and to create safer work environments by preventing workplace fatalities, injuries and illnesses.This walk outlines the intent of Riphah International University and Pakistan chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers to work together towards the common objective of promoting Occupational Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) practices within Riphah and across the country through advocacy, education, knowledge sharing and information dissemination.
In the closing remarks, Naeem Subhani Vice President, Pakistan Chapter (ASSE) expressed his gratitude to Riphah International University for making the event successful. He highlighted the importance of Safety, Health and Environmental legislation and regulatory reforms for sustainable development in perspective of Pakistan vision 2025. Moreover, he acknowledged the fact that safer organizations enjoy increased productivity, higher productivity, higher employee satisfaction and a better reputation, while recording less lost time, and lower healthcare costs. He also extended the desire to work closely in the future with Riphah International University to raise awareness for the said matter.
