Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences Professor M. Amanullah Khan

Prof. M. Amanullah Khan did his MBA from IBA Karachi in 1973.He started his academic career in 1976 from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad. Later on he joined International Islamic University in 1985,and established faculty of Management Sciences in 1996 as founder Dean of the faculty, and remained in this position prior to joining RIU. In between he also served Mohammad Ali Jinnah University from 2002 to 2007 as Head, Department of Business Administration. Prof. Khan is a renowned educationist in the field of Management Sciences. His specialization is in the field of Finance and Accounting. He is actively involved in research, training and consultancy. Prof. Khan is known for his academic leadership.

Introduction

The Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) was created to impart education in the Management Sciences and the applied disciplines. School of Leadership and Centre of Islamic Business operating under the FMS, offers rigorous academic programmes, professional trainings and practical exposure needed to produce leaders with vision and confidence.

Our students learn the contemporary tools, techniques and skills required for successfully managing and leading the 21 century business enterprises under the constantly changing global economic environment. The strong practical orientation of our BBA and MBA programmes significantly contribute to students understanding and comprehension of the concepts and skills taught.

The major challenge for FMS is to develop business leaders who can successfully handle the multifarious challenges of the corporate world. The rigorous class room teaching complemented by the extra curricular activities, interaction with the industry leaders through various interventions like seminars, workshops, industry projects and internships train the students to learn the skills on how the leaders and managers need to think on their feet to make timely and effective decisions. These industry interventions also make the students familiar with the actual work environment.

Program Aims And Objectives

The business program is designed to produce graduates who are able to:


Communicate effectively using oral, written and electronic documentation skills.
Integrate Islamic ethical values in the business world.
Demonstrate leadership while working effectively in a team environment to accomplish a common goal.
Demonstrate a foundation of business knowledge and technical skills that supports and facilitates lifelong professional development.
Understand the legal, ethical and human value implications of personal, social and business activities, as well as the significance of business trends
        to the larger society.
Use critical thinking, and creative and logical analysis skills, strategies and techniques to solve complex business problems.
Implement and apply current technical solutions to business activities, systems and processes.

Curriculum

The curriculum for BBA & MBA Program is designed within the framework recommended by the HEC. The courses taught at RSL are designed based on the input of teams consisting of the highly qualified academicians and the leading business executives. This approach enables us to develop our teaching materials based on the real life industry examples and to identify business case studies thereby enhancing the analytical abilities and problem solving skills of our students. Moreover, leading industry professionals across the globe are frequently engaged in various capacities to share their experiences, and to impart relevant skills, tools and techniques, to our students.
   
Specialization Courses

Though we place a strong emphasis on core courses, we help the students to develop their full potential by offering them a wide variety of specialization courses.

Double Majors

The MBA and BBA students have the options to choose double majors at RSL. In order to maximize the program utility, the students are encouraged to inform the department of their intentions to choose multiple majors well in advance.

MBA students should develop a course selection plan through consulting with their advisors at the end of first semester.

Non Credit Courses

FMS offers variety of non credit courses and seminars to increase capacity and skills of its students. Students can also take deficiency courses in certain areas depending upon their prior educational backgrounds.

Internships

FMS is continually establishing strong links with industry in order to facilitate its students for seeking internships. A separate department by the name of Business Resource Centre (RBRC) is formed to facilitate this process.

Job Placement In Pakistan & UAE

Under the auspices of RBRC, FMS is planning to establish a placement centre in UAE to facilitate its students for seeking jobs in Middle East.

Through RBRC platform, job seeking activities are organized to enable appropriate placement of the students in the industry. Periodic visits to different industrial units across the country are the added features to give students the feel of industrial environment and its functioning and also to establish business networks for securing fulltime and project based assignments.

The RBRC has signed MOU’s with the following organizations to facilitate RSL students in seeking internship and project opportunities:

Hearts International Hospital
Ras Al Khaima College of Dental Sciences

Professional Capacity Building Courses

In addition to the degree programmes, FMS also offers a number of professional capacity building courses for working professionals in the Business industry across Pakistan. These include; Short Courses, Workshops, Seminars and Customized Post-Graduate Diplomas (PGD).
